Earlier this year, Humana announced that beginning July 1, 2016, they would adopt a reimbursement policy that could reduce the benefit payout for a Medicare-eligible member enrolled in coverage with a small group employer (under 20 employees).
After receiving guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Humana will not reduce benefits as previously communicated.
Humana will issue letters in early August to affected employers and members to explain the reversal in policy.
