Blue KC will update its prescription drug plan designs for group members in Blue-Care (HMO), BlueSelect Plus (PPO), Preferred-Care (PPO) and Preferred-Care Blue (PPO) plans, effective March 1, 2017.

These changes do not affect group members on Express Scripts High Performance Formulary or direct pay members.
Other changes
Oral cancer medications moving to specialty pharmacy
Members utilizing oral medications for cancer treatment must fill their prescriptions at Accredo Specialist pharmacy. This ensures members receive medications from a pharmacy that provides education and training regarding special handling.
To limit member and physician disruption, Blue KC will be issuing a letter to affected employer groups mid-January. Members will receive a similar communication and prescribing physicians notified via letter prior to March 1 should patients contact them to discuss alternative medications.
