EEO-1 reporting deadline is June 24

Each year, private employers with 100 or more employees (and certain federal contractors) must file an EEO-1 report with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The report provides data about race/ethnicity and sex by various job groupings within a company. The information is used by various federal agencies for enforcement, research and assessment purposes. The 2024 data collection deadline is June 24, 2025.

Currently the online EEO-1 portal is closed. However, the 2024 data collection instruction booklet indicates the site is scheduled to open May 20, 2025, giving employers a little more than a month to meet the filing deadline.

In the past decade EEOC regulations have seesawed creating confusion and frustration on the part of employers. In 2016, as part of an Obama-era initiative, the EEOC added “Component 2” to the EEO-1 form requiring employers to report employee pay data. In 2017, the Trump Administration reversed the requirement. In 2020, the annual filing deadline was delayed nearly a year. This year’s nearly month-long delay opening the data collection portal is another variant in the filing history.
