After the dizzying legislative battle that resulted in the repeal of portions of Missouri’s voter-approved Proposition A, one surviving element takes effect January 1, 2026. The state’s employers should prepare for the automatic minimum wage increase to $15 an hour at the start of the new year. The current hourly minimum wage is $13.75.
Gutted by the repeal, signed by Governor Mike Kehoe this past summer, was a requirement to annually adjust the hourly minimum wage based on the Consumer Price Index and provide workers with sick pay.
Employers must display a copy of the current minimum wage poster in accessible, conspicuous places. When an update poster is available, it will be posted to the Missouri Department of Labor website.
