The Missouri Department of Labor (DOL) has released a notice that should be distributed to each employee by April 15, 2025, to comply with provisions of Proposition A. The notice includes the following information

  1. "employees accrue paid sick time at the rate of 1 hour earned for every 30 hours worked,
  2. employers are prohibited from taking retaliatory action against employees who request or use paid sick leave,
  3. employees have a right to bring a civil action if paid sick leave is denied, and
  4. the contact information for the Department."

The Missouri DOL also released a poster containing more information on the state's paid sick leave requirement that should be placed in a visible, common area.

While the legislation has been challenged in court, employers should still comply with the April 15 notice requirement, and plan to implement an earned paid sick time policy effective May 1, 2025.
