How to set new hires up for success

Countless hours are invested to find the perfect candidates for an organization. From crafting job descriptions, to wading through applications, to negotiating hiring terms, there's no question that the recruiting and hiring process is a time-consuming task. Organizations can protect their investment and set new hires up for a long-term, successful career with a hands-on onboarding experience.

A consistent, two-way stream of communication between new hires and management ensures new hires feel supported in their positions. One of the top reasons new hires give when leaving a company within 90 days is lack of structured onboarding and training. Dedicate the first day of a new hire’s employment to review all HR documents, employee handbook policies and procedures and general how-tos. Beyond the first few days, 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews can serve as a formal check-in to assess how well employees are settling into their new roles. Reviews also pinpoint areas where an employee could benefit from more training.

During the onboarding process benefit-eligible employees should also be educated on the offerings that are available to them. Misunderstood benefits can lead to an avoidable dip in employee satisfaction. Bukaty Companies understands the value of benefit education. That’s why we’ve developed a library of educational tools to boost employee understanding.
