Last week Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) issued emails and letters to plan sponsors who had coverage with the carrier for any period in 2023. BCBSKS is requesting data needed to comply with the Prescription Drug Data Collection (RxDC) reporting requirement. To comply with the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), passed in December 2021, insurance companies and employer-based plans must submit information regarding prescription and health care spending to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by June 1 of each year.
The majority of the data required is maintained by BCBSKS, but plan sponsors are required to provide the employee-paid health premium for months coverage was in place with BCBSKS.
The notification provides access instructions to the carrier’s submission site. Additional data submissions are required if a plan covers more than one tax identification number (TIN). Each TIN is assigned a unique personal information number (PIN) to gain access to the data site.
The BCBSKS submission deadline is April 30. Failure to meet this deadline may require employers to submit information to CMS on their own or be subject to a penalty of $100 per day per affected individual.
If you have not received BCBSKC’s email notification or need support completing the submission, contact your Bukaty benefits consultant.
