Humana announced this morning that it will exit the employer group commercial medical business. This includes all fully insured, self-funded and federal medical plans, as well as Humana’s standalone Go365 products. Humana will continue to maintain its dental, vision, life, and Medicare coverage.
Upon learning of this morning’s announcement, Bukaty Companies has communicated with area Humana representatives and learned the following:
- Starting April 1, 2023, Humana will no longer write new employer commercial group coverage.
- Existing Humana clients can renew their current coverage, if desired, from March to October 2023; for plan years with renewal dates of November 1, 2023, and beyond, group coverage will need to be secured from other available market carriers.
- Humana’s exit from the employer group commercial business entirely is expected by October 31, 2024.
