Private employers with more than 100 employees should begin preparing for the web-based 2023 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection, which opens on April 30. Submissions must be completed by June 4. Affected employers must report workforce demographic data like the number of individuals employed by job category, sex and race/ethnicity.
An instruction booklet and data file upload specifications are available now from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the entity tasked with collecting the data submissions. The EEOC requires responses be submitted electronically using the EEO-1 Component 1 Online Filing System (OFS) portal. Filers can either enter the data manually or via a data file upload. Once the collection period begins an EEO-1 Component 1 online filer support message center will be available to address questions.
Certain federal contractors with 50 or more employees also must comply with the requirement. State and local governments, public elementary schools, secondary school systems, and districts are not subject to EEO-1 Component 1 data collection but are subject to other EEO demographic data collections.
Updates regarding the data collection will be posted to www.eeocdata.org/eeo1.
